How OpenAI's GPT Store could be a unique opportunity

Published 5 months ago • 2 min read

Hello Reader,

A few weeks ago, ChatGPT launched custom GPTs - a beta feature for Plus users that's caused nearly as big a stir as the launch of ChatGPT itself just over a year ago.

Why?

Because it puts the power of AI technology in your hands - without needing to know how to code. Now, anyone can harness this technology to make a custom bot fine-tuned to a specific purpose.

And that is a big deal for two reasons:

  1. You can now create your own bot that's better customized to your needs than the default ChatGPT.
  2. OpenAI intends to launch a store soon where people can share and even earn money from their GPTs.

Here's what OpenAI has said about the store:

"Once in the store, GPTs become searchable and may climb the leaderboards. We will also spotlight the most useful and delightful GPTs we come across in categories like productivity, education, and “just for fun”. In the coming months, you’ll also be able to earn money based on how many people are using your GPT.

Originally, they were going to launch this store within a few weeks of opening up GPTs to Plus users, but they have since sent an email saying that the store will only be coming in early 2024.

That means we are in a golden window of time where we can build and fine-tune our GPTs before the store comes out. If you create a killer GPT that does what none other can do, you stand a lot to gain if it picks up steam on the store. You could earn money, yes, but it also creates brand awareness - because when you set up your builder profile, your website shows up as a hyperlink whenever someone uses your GPT:

So, I definitely have a few GPTs in the works that I hope to get into the store when it opens next year.

Now, GPTs aren't that hard to make (thanks to the no-coding interface), but there is still something of a learning curve, especially when it comes to separating your GPT from everyone else's or getting it to take actions outside of ChatGPT.

That's why I created an exclusive training for my AI-Empowered Innovators members called Build Your Own Bot Bootcamp.

This multi-lesson minicourse covers everything you need to know if you're getting started with GPTs, including:

✅ How to set up your builder profile

✅ GPT builder basics

✅ Conversation starter ideas

✅ How to create and add SOPs

✅ How to set up your GPT to take actions across the web using Zapier

This is only the latest training, but members also get access to all my other courses on how to use AI for SEO, ebook writing, research, and more. Not to mention, there are a ton of other perks, like a workflow library, chat rooms, forums, and a monthly livestream Q&A session.

Hey Reader, Happy Saturday! There have been a lot of changes to the online landscape in recent months, thanks to Google and its (un)Helpful Content Update. That's why I've always been a big fan of diversifying my online presence - not just to supplement traffic and income but to build a true audience that is outside the influence of third parties. I'm talking about building your own community through an email list and/or membership. One of the best ways to do that in 2024 is through a writing...

Hey Reader, One of the most crucial things you can do as a content creator - whether you're a blogger, YouTuber, TikToker, or Medium Writer - is to grow and nurture an email list. Why? Because your email list is pretty much the only marketing asset you truly own. Google traffic can dry up overnight. Pinterest traffic can drop off a cliff without explanation. Heck, even Medium could decide to shut down its platform or arbitrarily decide to ban Call-to-Actions in their articles. And you...

Hi Reader! It's been a hot minute since I dropped by your inbox. With the arrival of the new year, there have been a lot of unforeseen changes, adventures, challenges, and projects! One such adventure was a recent vacation to the Caribbean (and long overdue - my first time traveling abroad since pre-COVID.) Since my return, I have been hard at work behind the scenes, having recently created a brand new niche blog that I'm very excited about! I noticed that, while I still love ChatGPT for a...
